✨ the SPARK 231 ~ This Isn’t a Pivot — It’s an Evolution (With a Side of White Space)
Turns out, alignment is great than strategy
I’ve always thought it was interesting that we understand the idea that who we were at 10 years old isn’t who we’re supposed to be at 20 years old. Heck, most of us get that we’re not supposed to be the same person at 30 as we were at 20.
Then there’s this chunk of time - let’s say late 20s to mid-50s, where life is full of “shoulds” and “supposed to” and we need to do the right thing, be responsible, and stick with the path we chose when we were a different version of ourselves.
Perhaps this is just my perception, but many people live a life they wanted years ago without ever stopping to ask if the life they’re living is one they still want to live today.
In my recent article, “Could It Really Be This Easy?” I ended with a line from the book, “The Death of Ivan Illyich” by Tolstoy.
On his deathbed, he looks up at his wife and asks, “What if my life has been wrong?”
Just thinking about having that thought is more than my optimistic self can handle.
This is why I’ve never been afraid to pivot, publicly try things (and fail), and shift directions. Why on earth would I keep doing something that doesn’t feel right anymore?
Especially when I’m the one in control?
Of course, there are times in life when we’re faced with much more difficult decisions, so I’m not being dismissive of those types of challenges. This is why it’s even more essential to choose YOU when it’s a less-challenging decision.
The reality is we outgrow things… and that’s O.K., we’re supposed to.
Sometimes it’s slowly, without even realizing it, like the way the cuffs on a favorite sweatshirt you’ve had for years start looking more ready for the garbage pile than “vintage.”
Other times, it happens all at once — like the sudden realization that what once felt like freedom now feels like the end of the road, if you will.
I don’t mean the end of “the road” but the end of “a” road. It’s time for the next evolution.
I’ve been writing ✨the SPARK for 4.5 years (yes, totally patting myself on the back for this), and it’s been through one iteration: having started as #FtheHUSTLE and growing into ✨the SPARK.
I launched Women, Wisdom, & Wealth last fall because of my deep desire to understand and support women in changing their financial stories. I explored a few different paths, examining what that looked like in terms of my skills and knowledge, and trusted where it was heading.
There wasn’t a grand plan or a specific target date for launching something. It was all about showing up consistently and trusting.
Kind of like this scene from “Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade,” where Indiana has to take a leap of faith and the path appears:
Now I’m being called to take another leap of faith and trust the process.
Having added YouTube to my repertoire, I was starting to feel a little squeezed with my time and energy (remember, ya’ girl loves her white space and summer is around the corner. I need my pool time). From the start of Women, Wisdom, & Wealth, I felt there was an intersection between that and ✨the SPARK - I just had no idea what it was.
I haven’t stopped caring about what I’ve built. Both newsletters have held great importance for me. One has been an extension of my creative self and my love for the journey I started 17 years ago. The other has become a sacred space to explore money, mindset, and midlife reinvention.
Each served a purpose. Both still do.
But something new is emerging — and it’s not either/or.
It’s the space between.
Over time, I started to notice the overlap. The deeper threads. The values that underpin both. Somewhere along the way, I realized:
Maybe I’m not meant to fit into a niche.
Maybe I’m meant to create one.
One that allows me — and the people I serve — to show up as our whole selves. To blend voice, values, vision, and, quite frankly, whatever else we feel like sharing.
To build in a way that’s both strategic and spiritual. Structured and intuitive.
I’m still shaping this container. I’m not ready to reveal it just yet… but it’s coming.
And if you’ve felt the pull to build differently, you’ll know it when you see it.
If your business feels heavy, constricted, or just… off? You haven’t done anything wrong.
You’ve simply grown.
And maybe—just maybe—the rules you’re ready to break are the ones you didn’t need in the first place.

Wow, this sounds exciting, Kim, and represents one of the things I admire most about you—you're not afraid to pivot and forge a new path. I was about ready to spotlight you in my newsletter, but I'm going to wait until I see where you're headed so I can help you promote it. Good luck!
