The AI Tool That Completely Transformed My Workflow (and It's Not What You Think)
In the last eight weeks, I’ve dictated over 226,000 words. This simple AI tool is how I did it [VIDEO]
I want to tell you about a tool that has fundamentally changed the way I get things done. It's not a large language model like ChatGPT or Claude, but it has become just as essential to my daily routine.
The tool is called WisprFlow, and it’s my favorite piece of AI technology right now.
For years, I was a dedicated typist (err, keyboarder?), believing that the act of writing was intertwined with my thought process. I can type pretty fast—or at least I used to, at about 60 words per minute.
But WisprFlow has completely upended that. I now speak at an average of 130 words per minute, more than doubling my output. In the last eight weeks alone, I have dictated over 226,000 words. That’s the power of this tool.
It kind of feels like a secret weapon, lol. It’s a godsend when my brain is feeling more inspired than my hands and wrists (and that’s with using an ergonomic mouse).
What is WisprFlow?
WisprFlow is a dictation tool that allows you to speak instead of type, and your words will appear wherever your cursor is on your computer. It works system-wide, meaning you're not limited to using it in a web browser or a specific app. Whether I'm in a text message, a project management tool, or working with an AI, WisprFlow has become my ‘go-to’.
There’s also an iPhone app (I’m not sure of the status of the Android version). I haven’t used that as much because if I’m voicing on my phone, I tend to use the default voice options built into Apple.
How I Use It to Get More Done
I still prefer to write when I'm crafting a newsletter or a long-form article, because I've found that my "thought process is writing." For nearly everything else, especially task-oriented work, I now dictate.
One of my primary uses for WisprFlow is for vibe coding (my obsession, you might be sick of hearing about - #sorrynotsorry). I'm working on several projects, and being able to simply speak as I work has helped me streamline these projects, allowing me to make an incredible amount of progress.
For example: Let’s say I’ve given a prompt to Lovable (the vibe coding tool I’m using), and I’m reviewing the output. Instead of having to do screenshots or go back and forth between tabs, I click the little WisprFlow button on my screen (you can use function keys instead) and talk through what I’m testing or looking at. I don’t have to worry about how I phrase things. If I make a mistake or repeat something, WisprFlow removes the duplicates.
I also use it for creative prompts.
Recently, a client wanted a nature image for her website's hero section. I knew her brand's color palette and the color of the shirt she was wearing in her photos. After not finding anything I liked in one of the stock photo image sites, I used an AI image generator called Flux AI, I closed my eyes (what can I say, sometimes closing my eyes helps, lol) and dictated a ‘less-than-stellar’ prompt:
"I'm looking for a nature image. I think I'd like to see a beach. We want some mountains in the background. There should be some lush green. The sunset should really have some purples and blues, as that's the color palette on the website. It should be photorealistic."
I let the AI optimize it from there (the built-in optimizer for Flux-AI.io), and the result was stunning. This stream-of-consciousness approach to creating is something I couldn't achieve as fluidly with typing.
Why It's Better Than Other Dictation Tools
You might be thinking, "But my computer already has built-in dictation."
While that's true for many devices, WisprFlow has a key feature that sets it apart: it saves all of my transcripts. If I'm dictating into an app and something goes wrong, I don't have to worry about losing my train of thought. I can always go back to my WisprFlow dock, find the transcription, and copy it.
It also learns from you.
You can add custom words to its dictionary—I’ve added my last name and my client's to get the spelling right every time. The tool adapts to your speaking style and even corrects punctuation as you go.
Is It Worth It?
For me, the $15 a month subscription is an easy decision. The return on my investment is immeasurable in terms of time saved and productivity gained.
If you've ever felt like the speed of your typing holds back the flow of your ideas, I can't recommend WisprFlow enough. They offer a 14-day free trial, so you can test it out and see if it works for you. It has genuinely changed how I work, and I don't think I'll ever go back.

I absolutely love this tool and use it all the time. I'm using it right now to dictate my comment to you. I don't necessarily use this tool when I'm dictating my articles, but I dictate most of that as well in another way because I can think so much faster than I type. I'm one of those that I always correct my typing as I go and I make a ton of errors. This has been amazing, particularly with commenting on social media that was so much harder to do without it. I absolutely love it.
I used Wispr all the time now too. I've hooked it up to Bluetooth slide changer so I can use it without even touching my keyboard
