A Sneak Peek Inside My 'AI Lab' & The Apps I'm Building Right Now [VIDEO]
Step inside my lab and press play to see the AI tools I've built from scratch
If you're an entrepreneur in your 40s, 50s, or beyond, you've likely settled into a comfortable rhythm. You've years—maybe decades—of hard-won experience, and you know your industry, understand your clients, and have built a business on that solid foundation.
However, you might also be looking at the AI revolution and feeling a step behind, thinking it's a game for the 20-somethings in Silicon Valley.
I'm here to tell you nothing could be further from the truth.
We're not just talking about using AI to write emails or generate blog post ideas (both of which are great reasons to use it).
The greatest opportunity of our lifetime is here, and if you're a midlife+ entrepreneur, you're uniquely positioned to seize it. The real opportunity isn't in using AI, but in building with it.
For the past couple of months, I’ve gone completely down the rabbit hole, and what I’ve found has fundamentally shifted the direction of my business. I’ve gone from a user to a builder, and I’ve done more in the last six weeks than I thought possible.
In the video below, I walk you through exactly what I've been creating, but first, I want you to understand why this is your moment.
The Untapped Advantage of the Midlife Entrepreneur
For years, the tech world has been dominated by huge companies that raise massive amounts of venture capital. They build broad tools for the masses.
But you have something they don't: a more nuanced and deeper understanding of your customers' and your audience's specific pain points.
You've spent a career listening to the same problems, frustrations, and wishes from your clients. You know the exact workflow that's broken, and you know the one feature that would save them hours each week. Big companies miss this nuance; they can't afford to focus on the niche problems that you are intimately familiar with.
This is your superpower.
AI has now leveled the playing field, giving you the ability to take that deep knowledge and build a solution—an asset—that you can sell. You can create a tool that solves a very specific problem for your ideal customer, and you can do it faster and more affordably than ever before.
From User to Builder, My "Mad Scientist" Journey
Like many of you, I started playing with AI back in 2021 with tools like Jasper and, of course, ChatGPT when it launched. It was great for writing, planning, and ideating.
It wasn’t until recently that a switch flipped when I realized that the same technology could be used for so much more (this is the beauty of jumping in and trying something).
This has been a complete pivot for me, and I've been hunkered down in my "mad scientist era," building things I never thought I could.
It all started with a simple desire. I wanted a better quiz.
I’ve used plenty of quiz plugins over the years, but I wanted one that could deliver truly customized results and segment my email subscribers automatically. So, I decided to build it. I created "The Business Within" quiz, which identifies one of eight core business archetypes based on a user's answers.
When a user gets their results, their primary archetype, support archetype, and growth edge are sent as custom fields to my Kit account. This allows me to follow up with eight custom email sequences, tailoring my communication to their specific results.
I couldn't find a quiz app that did exactly what I wanted, so I made it. 😉
This project opened my eyes. If I could build this for myself, why couldn't I build it for others?
*I’m hosting a LIVE workshop on Thursday, July 24th at 11 am PDT. I’m going to walk you through ideation to building an app live on the call. Click the button below for more details.
What "Building with AI" Actually Looks Like
This is where things get really exciting. The tools available today allow you to build sophisticated applications without needing to be a traditional coder. It's a new paradigm some are calling "vibe coding"—essentially, prompting an AI with your vision to create an application.
Here’s a quick look at what this has enabled me to create in just a matter of weeks:
From a Quiz to a Full-Blown App (TypeQuiz): The initial quiz project inspired me to build my own SaaS (Software as a Service) application called TypeQuiz. I'm developing it so that users can input their business information, and the AI will generate the entire quiz strategy, including archetypes and questions, for them. My goal is to have it live by the end of July (I give a pretty good walk-thru in the video).
A New Website in a Weekend: I've been a WordPress user for over 17 years, but I built my new website in just three days part-time using these new AI tools. The speed is astonishing. You can even take a screenshot of software or a website you like, upload it, and tell the AI, "Make it look like that". I’ve put up a ‘Coming Soon’ page until I can finish a few other things.
Building Smart Lead Magnets: Forget boring PDF checklists. I created a tool that helps users build a Product Requirements Document (PRD), which is the first step in mapping out an app idea. It's a functional tool that provides real value, making it a far more powerful lead magnet. Try Build My PRD here.
A Course and Community Platform (TypeCraft): To bring all of this together, I'm even building my own course and community dashboard, a space designed specifically for midlife women to learn and collaborate in the AI space. *I did a sneak peek of this in the video, so be sure to watch!*
You Don't Need to Be a Coder or a VC-Funded Mogul
I want to be clear: everything I’ve just described was built in roughly six to eight weeks. This isn't about scaling to a monumental, huge software company. It's about leveraging resources.
Imagine creating a simple tool that solves one nagging problem for your audience. What if you had 200 customers paying you $39 a month for it? That's a good, recurring revenue stream built from your own expertise, allowing you to focus on what you do best: creating, delivering, and solving problems.
AI can give us our time back by enabling us to build assets that work for us.
This is where I've been, and I couldn't be more excited about where this is all going. We are at the very beginning of a new chapter in digital entrepreneurship, and your years of experience are your ultimate unfair advantage.
What problems have you always wanted to solve for your clients?
What tool do you wish you had?
Let me know in the comments below—I'd love to hear your ideas.

AND…
If you didn’t know it yet, Gemini has the VEO video creator live in the chat window.
Check out the video below, which I created in about 2 minutes, to accompany the ‘mad scientist in a lab’ vibe.
I created the image first and then entered a new chat to use video.
Not too shabby, right?
I can’t wait to share more in the workshop!
There will be a replay, so don’t worry if you can’t attend live.
I loved the mad scientist video! Your enthusiasm for PRD is exciting, Kim!
Love the mad scientist picture. I'm right there with you. I would not be able to be doing most of the stuff that I'm doing without having it to walk me through things. It's just amazing because you can go back and forth with it and ask it all kinds of questions. You're not fumbling around trying to find threads online.
