After a much-needed, long holiday weekend, I find myself feeling a bit wobbly getting back at it this morning.
It’s nothing one more cup of coffee can’t fix.
That being said, I’m incredibly grateful I don’t have to rush into anything this morning.
When I had a job and had to endure the dreaded morning commute (after dropping the kids at school, etc.), a friend shared something with me that I think I should apply to my business as well.
“Never go back to work on a Monday.”
Wise words, right?
The only difference is that I love what I do now, so instead of taking Monday off after a holiday or vacation, I think I’ll treat it like my transition back into things.
Especially since I am now officially “can get discounts” years old (I just turned 55 yesterday! 🥳 ).
You better believe I’ll be popping into T-Mobile to get that discount this week.
#Simplepleasures.
In addition to the apps I’m working on, I did another test this past weekend (and I promise you I’ve got a couple of videos coming this week, where I’ll share behind-the-scenes, not just screenshots) that I have to share with you. Today I’m sharing the link to something in development so you can check it out yourself.
A little context first, especially if you’re new around here (hi!).
I spent the first ten years of my business as “The WordPress Chick” (The WPChick).
From 2008 to 2018, WordPress was my jam.
I switched to my personal brand in 2018 because what I really enjoyed was content, marketing, and email marketing. My personal brand allowed a lot more flexibility than The WPChick.
I haven’t done much with my website in a while because, as I’ve been shifting my focus, I wanted to make sure I was clear on the direction (No one wants to rewrite website copy more often than necessary).
So, after a conversation with my friend
last week, I did something I never thought I’d do (so this will officially be known as the "#iblamejason website, lol. Again, I love having smart friends).I built a new website… with Lovable.
In other words, no WordPress.
And ready for this?
I’ve built a page editor for blog posts that includes all the necessary SEO and meta information. I still have a few tweaks to make.
When I think about the fact that I write and publish my newsletter on Substack (and will republish to my site), it feels like a no-brainer to at least try it (I haven’t pointed the domain name yet).
Oh… and I’m doing a simple cart checkout connected to Stripe.
Want to take a peek at the site? 🫣
Keep in mind I’m still tweaking, will import all my WordPress posts, and haven’t linked any of the buttons, and the tools page will be populated… which by the way, was created with some simple direction and a few prompts.
Some of the images are loading slow, but all of that is fixable.
And again… It’s fixable with a prompt.
Could I have done all this in WordPress? Yes.
But it would have taken me much, much longer.
I honestly think AI is the greatest opportunity of our lifetimes.
There are so many incredible ways to integrate it into our lives and businesses… and we’re just getting started.
*My disclaimer*
I know there are concerns about AI (legitimate)
It’s happening at the speed of light and can be hard to keep up with
We still need (and always will) things created by humans. I don’t want a world where AI creates everything
Actual human connection, relationships, and community are more important than ever
You can integrate as much or as little of AI as you want in your business
I believe we can get our time back thanks to AI, allowing us more time to live the lives we’ve created
I have a general idea of what this looks like for me and how I’m integrating it into my business, but I know it will evolve.
And that’s the fun part.
I absolutely LOVE that I’m trying and learning new things… daily.
This is a bit of a brain dump today (as I’m sure you can tell), but my goal is to share with you what I’m doing, how I’m doing it, and equally as important, how quickly you can get an MVP created.
Obviously, I bring 17 years of experience with me in doing all this (along with an insatiable curiosity). Still, even if it takes someone else a little bit longer, it’s worth it.
And no, the goal of all of this isn’t just to speed up the process or get more done. I’m working at the same pace, still taking time to float and read in the pool in the afternoon (I am a summer girl through and through), and spending time with family and friends.
I’m working differently.
That’s all.
I’ll be hosting a workshop in a few weeks called “From AI User to AI Builder.”
It'll be a paid workshop, and I promise you that you’ll walk away with everything you need to start building something with AI.
I’ll share the registration link later this week.
In the meantime, if you have any questions about any of this, feel free to reply or email me directly (or message me here 😉).
I have the workshop outline already, but if there’s something specific you’d like to know, I’d be happy to incorporate that into the workshop.
On that note…
It’s time for me to get back to Lovable so I can get a video recorded today.
Have a wonderful day.
With coffee & kindness,
Kim
Girl, we will have tons to talk about on this project.
If you did all that in Lovable, then it really is lovable! Can't wait to see more!
